What if you were a rhizome

DSC00692

What if you were a rhizome

and your subterranean roots

a prolific arising and emanating,

a gradual and persistent moving

forming vast cavernous spaces in a deep dark underground.

What if you were a rhizome

and every part of you connected to every other part of you,

co-existing, co-habitating, co-immanent,

reducible neither to one nor the multiple,

and what if

the steady wandering and growing of your shoots

one, two, three, multiplying

were a pulsating exuberant overspilling

having neither beginning nor end

but only a middle.

What if you were a rhizome

and your lifelong becoming

were a propagation of

a self that had always been

and will always be

real, existing, intrinsic,

with multiple entryways to understanding

and innumerable opportunities for being.

What if you were a rhizome

and your inherent drive to reach for

light

and to embrace and be embraced by wind

were curtailed by carless hand

that detached, tore and ripped?

Would you perish? Decay? And cease to exist?

Or would your resilience give rise to an

Emerging anew

as Multiplicity

Carefully mending brokenness and

reattaching / grafting

pieces wrapped around pieces

as you grow around yourself

to embrace and nourish

and without direction

rise.
